BREAKFAST CLUB
At Warwick Road School we understand the importance breakfast plays. There has been a lot about school breakfast clubs in the media. This is because an increasing number of children are arriving at school having not had breakfast, which can impact negatively on their learning and behaviour. Breakfast Clubs have been proven to have a positive impact on punctuality, academic results, concentration, behaviour and attainment.
The School has become an early adopter school for the universal free breakfast clubs programme, from April 2025.
Breakfast club runs every morning from 8:00am in the main school hall. We ask children arrive via the hall door on Howard Street. Children should arrive prior to 8:10am to enable them to eat their breakfast before school starts.
At breakfast club we serve daily
- Cereal
- Bagels
- Variety of juice/squash
We also offer additional foods each day from the following:-
- Baked beans on bagels
- Creamy fruit yogurt with berries
- Scrambled egg
- Melted cheese bagel
Price: We are delighted to offer a FREE Breakfast provision in school for our children.
Funding is provided by the Department of Education early adopter scheme to provide a free, universal breakfast club.
Free, universal breakfast clubs will mean that every primary school child, no matter their
circumstances, is well prepared to learn. Breakfast clubs are about much more than the
food. They provide opportunities for children to play and socialise before the start of the
school day, supporting children’s attendance and attainment, to enable them to thrive
academically and socially.
Feedback from our children and parents has been fantastic
In a normal school year, schools are open just over half the year (taking into account weekends and school holidays). This means even where breakfast is available within school, children are still having breakfast at home almost 50% of the time. Below you will find tips, ideas, information, recipes, videos and quizzes to make breakfast time an easy part of your morning routine at home.
