NURSERY ADMISSIONS

At Warwick Road Primary School all children are welcome. We would like to be able to accept all those who apply for admission to our EYFS department; however, due to the popularity of our school, we can’t always do this.

Responsibility for making decisions regarding admissions to the nursery class lies with the EYFS Leader of the school. The Headteacher ensures that the requirements of this policy are followed.

The nursery class at Warwick Road Primary School is able to provide 15 hours of free early years education for children from the term following their third birthday, if there is an available place. Parents should apply for a school nursery place by:

  • 30 April for a September start
  • 30 September for a January start
  • 31 January for an April start

To apply please obtain the forms from the School Office or download the online forms.  Completed forms need returning to the School Office together, with the original birth certificate (short copy) and utility bill showing your current address.

The EYFS Leader will inform parents by letter whether it has been possible to allocate their child a place. Places will be offered by the half-term prior to the term of admission. Admission dates:

Date of birth

Date of admission

1 April to 31 August

Autumn Term (September)

1 September to 31 December

Spring Term (January)

1 January to 31 March

Summer Term (after Easter)

Admissions will be staggered so that staff can make sure the children are settled into the new environment. Staggering is organised in birthdate order.

Please note:-

  • This application is not a promise of admission to the school.  Other children may have a higher priority for place as the admissions policy requires.
  • Prior to the year your child is due to start full-time school, in a reception class, you must apply online at www.kirklees.gov.uk/admissions, between 1 September and January for a place

RECEPTION ADMISSIONS

The responsibility for admission to a reception place rests with the Local Authority.  A copy of the admissions policy is available below.

The Published Admission Number (PAN) is the maximum number of children Kirklees proposes to admit.  Normally, children will not be refused until that number is reached.  Our current PAN for Reception is 48.

If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020, then they will start school in September 2024.  Please apply online at http://www.kirklees.gov.uk/beta/admissions/apply-primary-school-place.aspx between 1 September 2023 and 15 January 2024.

Guidance for applying for a Reception place can be found by clicking this link to the local authority website here.

You can apply for a September 2024  place at our school by completing the online form here.

CHANGING SCHOOLS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR

If your child is already attending a school but wants to transfer, you will need to complete an 'In-Year Common Application Form (ICAF).'  Please click the attachment or link below for guidance  on how to complete the application form and information about what will happen next.   https://www.kirklees.gov.uk/beta/admissions/apply-primary-school-place.aspx
