Week 8

 

I hope you and your children are all well, and making the most of your time together at home. This week as part of well-being, I would like to focus on the importance of physical exercise. We all know regular exercise has health benefits for our bodies and minds, both of which are very important for us all at the moment. Some of you may find your children are more active at home, which is good while others are a lot less active because of being at home most of the time.

 “Regular exercise has lots of health benefits for children and young people, such as… improving fitness, encouraging healthy growth and development, improving self-esteem…and…encouraging a better night's sleep.” (Great Ormond Street Hospital) 

Some ideas for children to exercise could be:

  • Playing catching and throwing games.
  • Skipping.
  • Kicking a ball around in the garden.
  • Doing star jumps.
  • Having racing competitions with their siblings.

Children could also follow P.E with Joe Wicks every morning at 9 am on YouTube and also see previous exercise routines on his YouTube channel.
