During this lesson we will learn all about Oxidation.
Oxidation is a chemical reaction for example when iron rusts or an apple browns.
When an apple’s flesh meets the oxygen in the air, a chemical reaction called oxidation occurs. Have you ever noticed a cut apple often goes brown after a while? Well this is oxidation. This can happen to bananas and pears too! When the skin is peeled it is no longer protected from oxygen and can oxidise.
Download the presentation below to complete the experiment on an apple. Please do not worry if you do not have all the things needed- do the best you can. Remember to send us pictures on Skype. There will be no answers on Parent hub as this is an individual experiment.
