Rooted- Whole School Writing

Autumn 1

On Wednesday 4th October, Warwick Road began it's first whole-school writing project. In order to raise the profile of writing, children from Year 1 - Year 6 were gathered in the assembly hall to watch a special video - Rooted. Children watched the first minute of the video before being tasked to write a recount detailing what happened in the section of the video we watched. Special story books were purchased for the children to write in. Teachers were asked to provide a sentence from each year group. These were given to Mr Lavery, who then created one piece of writing which contained work from one child from each year group - this will be displayed in the main hall for all to see. Each mid-term we will watch another section of the video before describing it in our story books. By the end of the year, every child in Year 1 - Year 6 will have the completed story; hopefully with progression visible throughout the year.

Spring 1

This half-term, children from Year 1 - Year 6 took park in their third 'Whole School Write'. By now the children are very familiar with the setting and characters, and this is reflected in their writing.

This term the children whose work was chosen for display were:
Ayesha Shaikh from Year 1
Saalim Gharda from Year 2
Talhah Aswat from Year 3
Umar Patel from Year 4
Fatima Kahut from Year 5
Maroof Vaachhinyat from Year 6
Please take a look at the work produced. We also have samples from some year groups for you all to look at.
Unais Mulla - Year 1
Rayyhan Kazi - Year 2
Mustafa Qamar - Year 3
Yahya Aswat - Year 6

Please have a look below at the work our children have produced so far, and be sure to check back next mid-term to see their next paragraphs!

In the Summer 2 half term, children completed their final 'Rooted' paragraph. Children responded maturely to the end of the video, which saw Woody and Willow finally reach each other - and their end. We're very proud of the work that the children have produced and are anticipating the next whole-school write next year.
