Keeping you informed

We want to keep parents informed of their child's progress, and about other activities in school. We recognise that good communication benefits the whole school community.

In this section you will find information about everything that is happening in and outside of our school as well as photographs and videos of our amazing children in action.

• ## Y3 Sports and Maths

Published 27/03/18

This week we have been studying time and we extended our Maths learning with cross curricular links to PE. We completed physical activities and timed each other in pairs. We also took part in an Olympic challenge where we competed with long jumps, bean bag throwing and number of star jumps in 30 seconds. We used our knowledge of measuring using rulers to identify winners and our understanding of time helped us to identify winners.

• ## Year 3 Angle Hunt

Published 27/03/18

During Maths week children in Y3 investigated a range of Maths skills which they were able to utilise in the outside world. We started the morning off learning about different types of angles (right angle, acute, obtuse and reflex). Then we made right angle monsters which we used on our local walk, around Warwick Road, to find different types of angles. We found angles everywhere! Our monsters were very useful in helping us identify the type of angle.

• ## Y2 visit Tesco

Published 27/03/18

The Year 2 children thoroughly enjoyed their experience of ‘shopping’ at Tesco. All the children were given £1 to purchase fruit. When the children entered the supermarket, their first task was to decide which fruit they wanted to buy and to check if they had enough money. For this, children used quick mental calculations. Some children placed themselves into groups of two and three and combined their money to purchase the fruit (if the cost was more than £1). Before going to the till to pay, the children were asked to calculate the amount of change they will be given.

On Wednesday children in Y3 visited The Deep as part of this half terms creative topic. We visited the aquariums to gain a unique insight into the world of the deep. We had the opportunity to observe aquatic life, finding out about the different species that live in the depths of the world’s seas and oceans. We viewed our ocean world with the help of NASA images and the amazing 3D magic planet.

• ## Reception visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Published 13/03/18

In Reception we have been learning about safari animals as part of our topic. Last week, we visited Yorkshire Wildlife Park to see some of the animals. First we had a tour around all the areas such as the Lion Country and Into Africa. The children were very excited to see the lions, leopards and polar bears!

Reception also participated in a workshop, which allowed them to touch a snake, snail, camel skin and a cockroach. The children had a great day.
