  • Spelling Bee

    During the last half term, the children of Warwick Road Primary School participated in the first spelling bee of the year.  Five children in each year group had been provided with a list of difficult spellings to learn two weeks prior to the event.  The children competed in two assembly groups: Years 1 to 3 and Years 4 – 6. 

    The spelling bee was a resounding success: children in Years 5 and 6, in particular, wowed staff and their fellow classmates with how well they had been practising.

  • Year 6 Water Safety

    On Thursday 27 April, Claire Cavendish, from the ‘Canal & River Trust’, delivered an assembly to KS1 & KS2 on, ‘How to keep safe near canals and rivers’. They learnt how to spot dangers around canals and rivers; then they learnt how they can help someone who may have fallen into a river or canal. In addition, they learnt what they could do to try and keep someone’s head out of the water.  The KS2 pupils also learnt how to use a life-ring & throw-line correctly.

  • Mister Shapeshifter

    On 26th April, Year 6 pupils enjoyed watching a play  delivered by GW Theatre Company, called ‘ Mister Sahpeshifter’ – the play allowed  the pupils to think and learn about the good and bad things that can happen in relationships or friendships and to look at situations in which they might feel at risk or vulnerable. The play’s main aim was to  help the pupils to be as safe and happy as they can be as they live their lives.

  • Year 1: Rio De Vida

    As Year 1's Creative Curriculum topic is 'Rio de Vida'. On Tuesday 4th April the year 1s had a visit from the One Day Theatre Company. The children had an opportunity to participate in a Brazilian Carnival workshop and they were intrigued by the stories about Brazil. Children learnt about South American culture, movements and creative energetic Brazilian routines.

    The children enjoyed showcasing a performance at the end of the day.
