  • Reception at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    On the 29th March, Reception Class went on their first coach ride and visited the Yorkshire Wildlife Park. Our focus for the term had been Africa and African animals, so the visit to the Wildlife Park enabled the children to see the animals first hand.

    The children enjoyed seeing animals such as lions, tigers, meerkats and more. They also had the chance to handle animals and animal artefacts during a classroom session.

  • World Maths Week 2017

    During the week beginning Monday 13th March, Warwick Road School celebrated Maths week across school. Throughout the week, children were given the chance to take part in various mathematical activities and understood how maths is linked to everything. Some classes took their children out on a maths trail around school to identify percentages, shapes, and fractions, whereas other classes collected data during P.E sessions and presented them using bar charts. Children were also given the opportunity to focus on problem solving, reasoning and logic, which allowed them to develop their use of mathematical skills in a range of contexts.

  • Year 2 Abbey House Musuem

    On the 15th March Year 2 visited Abbey House Museum, as part of their Street Detectives topic. Children stepped back in time and wandered through the enchanting streets, shops and houses as they experienced life as a Victorian. Some children had the opportunity to dress-up and discover what life was like for a Victorian child and how our streets, houses and homes have changed.

  • World Book Day 2017

    World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children.  At Warwick Road School, all of the children and staff celebrated this special day by decorating their classrooms as scenes from books and dressing as their favourite book character.

  • Flamingo Land Year 4

    On the 5 th of March 2017, the Year 4 pupils had an exciting and education visit to the Flamingo Land Zoo.

    The visit supplemented their learning during the Science topic of ‘Food and Nutrition.’ Pupils took part in a

    workshop which involved learning about the diets of some zoo animals and investigating the purpose of

    skeletons and muscles. Everyone had a chance to touch some invertebrates and small vertebrates, some

    children were braver than others! During the guided tour of the zoo children were able to experience close

    views of many animals including the hippopotamus, giraffes and the giant tortoise. Many children even

    glimpsed the trio of lions who were safely behind the glass enclosure. Watching the amazing sea lions

    balance ball, skittles and hoops was the culmination of an enjoyable and educational day at the Zoo.
