Step into the Future
On 20th June, in order to celebrate what is wonderful about out local community, Year 6 children took part in 'Step into the Future' - an annual event in which children from the local community come together in order to celebrate the many things we all have in common.
After being giving our own coloured t-shirts at Batley Market Place, children walked to Batley Bulldogs Stadium. On the (somewhat rainy) walk, it was lovely to have some of our former pupils join us. While there were many possible activities at the stadium, Warwick Road took part in cricket, football and 'capture the flag' games.
Once all the activities had been competed, children from all schools came together for a group photograph. Afterwards, Warwick Road’s own Irfaan Soni took to the stage to reflect on his friendship with Reverent Mark Umbleby, discussing the many things they have in common.
Kim Leadbeater, in a closing speech, reminded us of her late sister Jo's now-famous words - 'We have more in common than that which divides us.' This was abundantly clear today.
