Year 3 at Dewsbury Library

On Tuesday 26th September children in Year 3 walked to Dewsbury town to help them with their creative curriculum topic on Urban Pioneers. Children walked from school into the town centre where they had opportunities to look at all the different shops and buildings. They discussed key landmarks such as the town hall and market area.

Children then walked to Dewsbury Library where they were greeted by a librarian who helped the children to look at old maps of Dewsbury and compare them to current maps of Dewsbury. They discovered that there was an increase in the number of buildings and homes. The librarian discussed key landmarks in Dewsbury and also what Dewsbury was and is famous for. Children had opportunities to look at books about Dewsbury in the library.
