Flamingo Land Year 4

On the 5 th of March 2017, the Year 4 pupils had an exciting and education visit to the Flamingo Land Zoo.

The visit supplemented their learning during the Science topic of ‘Food and Nutrition.’ Pupils took part in a

workshop which involved learning about the diets of some zoo animals and investigating the purpose of

skeletons and muscles. Everyone had a chance to touch some invertebrates and small vertebrates, some

children were braver than others! During the guided tour of the zoo children were able to experience close

views of many animals including the hippopotamus, giraffes and the giant tortoise. Many children even

glimpsed the trio of lions who were safely behind the glass enclosure. Watching the amazing sea lions

balance ball, skittles and hoops was the culmination of an enjoyable and educational day at the Zoo.
