Reception and Nursery Admissions
At Warwick Road Primary School all children are welcome. We would like to be able to accept all those who apply for admission to our EYFS department; however, due to the popularity of our school we can’t always do this.
Responsibility for making decisions regarding admissions to the schools nursery class lies with the EYFS Leader of the school. The Headteacher ensures that the requirements of this policy are followed. A copy of the admissions policy can be downloaded from our policy page.
The nursery class at Warwick Road Primary School is able to provide 15 hours of free early years education for children from the term following their third birthday, if there is an available place. Parents should apply for a school nursery place by:
- 30 April for a September start
- 30 September for a January start
- 31 January for an April start
We currently have 26 places for both morning and afternoon sessions.
To apply please obtain the forms from the School Office or download the online forms. Completed forms need returning to the School Office together, with the original birth certificate (short copy) and utility bill showing your current address.
The EYFS Leader will inform parents by letter whether it has been possible to allocate their child a place. Places will be offered by the half-term prior to the term of admission. Admission dates:
Date of birth
Date of admission
1 April to 31 August
Autumn Term (September)
1 September to 31December
Spring Term (January)
1 January to 31March
Summer Term (after Easter)
Admissions will be staggered so that staff can make sure the children are settled into the new environment. Staggering is organised in birth date order.
- This application is not a promise of admission to the school. Other children may have a higher priority for place as the admissions policy requires.
- Please indicate if you would prefer a morning or afternoon place although we cannot guarantee this
- Prior to the year your child is due to start full-time school, in a reception class, you must apply online at www.kirklees.gov.uk/admissions, between 1 September and January for a place
The responsibility for admission to a reception place rests with the Local Authority. A copy of the admissions policy can be downloaded from our policy page.
The Published Admission Number (PAN) is the maximum number of children Kirklees proposes to admit. Normally, children will not be refused until that number is reached. Our current PAN for Reception is 48.
If your child was born between 1 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, then they will start school in September 2018. Please apply online at www.kirklees.gov.uk between 1 September 2017 and 15 January 2018.
