At Warwick Road School we understand the importance breakfast plays. There has been a lot about school breakfast clubs in the media. This is because an increasing number of children are arriving at school having not had breakfast which can impact negatively on their learning and behaviour. Breakfast Clubs have been proven to have a positive impact on punctuality, academic results, concentration, behavior and attainment.
Breakfast club runs every morning from 8.00am in the main school hall. We ask children arrive via the side hall entrance, children should arrive prior to 8.20am to enable them to eat their breakfast before school starts.
At breakfast club we serve:
- Kellogg’s cereals
- Variety of juice/squash
- Beans on toast (Wednesday only)
- Hot chocolate (Friday only)
Only 50p for the 1st child and 25p for siblings
Kellogg’s have teamed up with Forever Manchester, a UK charity to deliver the ‘Help Give a Child a Breakfast’ campaign in the UK.
Through the campaign, our school applied for funding to support our Breakfast Club. We have been fortunate enough to not only receive the £400 grant but were also able to access the online training devised by Northumbria University.
The training was a one stop for resources and the material was available at the click of a button, 24 hours a day. It included information on the benefits of having breakfast clubs and healthy eating as well as offering advice on effective planning, funding and marketing – all crucial for the long term success of a breakfast club.
On behalf of all the pupils, staff and Governors at Warwick Road Primary School, we wish to thank Kellogg’s and Forever Manchester for making this possible.
